Welcome! For the sixteenth time we invite you to the International Folk Music Festival "Mikołajki Folkowe", initiated by Orkiestra św. Mikołaja, which takes place in the Academic Culture Centre of Maria Curie Skłodowska University. Folk today is a mixture of tradition and modernity, familiarity and avant-garde. Everyone can find in it something for and from oneself. This year, musicians from 10 countries (Ireland, Ukraine, Belarus, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Tibet and Poland) will perform on three Festival stages. The "Stage under the Stairs" will be continued, with dance workshops and performances of groups which are closer to sources of folk music . There will also be a concert of young and debuting groups "Open Stage", film presentations (among them films directed by professor Andrzej Bieńkowski), exhibitions and workshops to which we invite everyone. |
